Joy Boone, owner of Boone’s Cycles in the museum district(http://www.danielboonecycles.com/), and my friend Mark Chance (bicycle enthusiast) have teamed up with other local bike icons to start up Houston’s first bicycle museum. The only thing cooler than the bikes they have stashed away in attics, storage rooms, garages – are the stories they tell. It’s a fun group to be a part of.
To get things rolling, we had a photo shoot with some of the bikes that will be featured in the museum. For now, they are only a few displayed here, about 30 on my flickr page http://flickr.com/photos/saracatherine/sets/ , and soon many more on the museum’s web site (currently under construction).
We need volunteers to help with every aspect of starting a museum from cataloguing bikes, to PR, fundraising, etc. Contact me if you are interested on more information, would like to join the team, or just want to stop by if we ever pull out more awesome bikes to play with – or add yours!
Fantastico! This is really cool! I have a Roadmaster with Chinese flames on it that I bought at Wal-Mart for $169.00 last week; can I donate it to the Museum?
Mark, only if it has the Snoopy wind guard on the front. We are somewhat particular with our collection.
It has the Snoopy wind guard, but he has Poke-Mon hair…
How about a Trek 1000 BSD (bisexual specific design)? Bi-cycle… right ; )
I was a bit carefree with my comments last week; but in all seriousness, I will go on record and say that Sara is the absolute best studio photographer that I have ever worked with personally. Yes, I know what you are thinking… well what about so & so, blah, blah… I have in fact worked with more highly skilled shooters, but the difference is that they have their arrogant noses glued to the ceiling and cannot make a mistake even if they wanted to. Sara is not only a very skilled photographer, but an extremely nice person to work with. I would recommend her to anyone who needs pics done.
